Deepak Hooda, who had come to Haridwar from Haryana, slipped while taking a dip in the Ganga at the Shiv Ghat, due to which he suddenly started drowning in the deep water. Seeing Deepak drowning, people who reached there with him raised an alarm and the jawans of the 40th Battalion PAC and the NDRF posted at the Ghat rescued him safely through a raft boat.

In the evening, when Deepak Hooda reached his residence in Rohtak, he told in detail the entire incident from drowning in the Ganga to his rescue. Deepak said, "I had kept a fast on Shivratri today. Today, while taking a dip in the Ganga, my foot slipped and the police present there saved me. I am very thankful to them. By the grace of Mahadev, I was saved today."
