
News Topical, Digital Desk : The work of building new expressways is going on continuously across the country. In this sequence, the country's first 8-lane expressway has now been completed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Dwarka Expressway and Urban Extension Road-2 (UER-2) on Sunday (August 17). The construction of this expressway will provide relief from the problem of traffic jam in Delhi as well as Gurugram to a great extent and people will also save time.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate these two important national highway projects with a combined cost of about Rs 11,000 crore. The Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-2 (UER-II) have been developed as part of the government's comprehensive plan to decongest the capital, which aims to significantly improve connectivity in Delhi and its surrounding areas, reduce travel time and reduce traffic.
Multi modal connectivity from Dwarka Expressway
The 10.1 km long Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway has been developed at a cost of approximately Rs 5,360 crore. The section will also provide multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhoomi, DMRC Blue Line and Orange Line, upcoming Bijwasan railway station and Dwarka cluster bus depot.
Traffic will ease in busy places
The Alipur to Dichaon Kalan section of Urban Extension Road-2 along with new links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat cost Rs 5,580 crore. This will ease traffic on Delhi's Inner and Outer Ring Roads and busy places like Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan and NH-09.

Will the journey from Delhi to Gurugram be completed in 20 minutes?
After the inauguration of this expressway, the people living in Gurugram will be the biggest beneficiaries. This expressway will eliminate the traffic jam on NH-48 to a great extent. Through this expressway, one can reach the airport within 10 minutes of leaving Gurugram. The distance between the national capital Delhi and Gurugram will be covered in just 20 minutes through this expressway. Along with this, with the opening of Urban Extension Road-2, it will take less than 1 hour to reach Sonipat and Panipat highways.
