News Topical, Digital Desk : A youth in Diamond Harbour of South 24 Parganas district reached the hearing centre for the third time to prove his citizenship and identity during the hearing of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list.

This time he wasn't empty-handed. The young man, Daiyan, carried an old, rusty iron trunk on his head, containing all the documents of his ancestors, along with soil from the place where his grandfather died, and his old handkerchief.

Daiyan, a resident of the Savisa Gram Panchayat, claims he has already submitted his documents twice, but is being summoned repeatedly. He shouted at administrative officials, "If these documents don't convince you, then have a DNA test done on the soil from my grandfather's grave to prove that I am a son of this soil."

Daiyan emotionally explained that she is one of five children, yet her identity is being questioned. Her actions caused a stir in the block office.

Dayan says the repeated interrogations have mentally broken him, so he even brought back the last remnants of his ancestors. There has been no official response from the administration on the matter.
