Cold wave continues in many parts of North and East India on Wednesday as well. The increasing cold in Delhi-NCR has increased the troubles of people. To save themselves from cold, needy people are spending the night in night shelters. Fog has engulfed various parts of Delhi-NCR. Visibility has reduced due to fog. People are facing a lot of difficulty while driving.

Amidst the cold wave, the latest update has come from the Meteorological Department. According to the Meteorological Department, a new western disturbance may affect the Himalayan region on December 18, due to which severe cold may occur in UP after the next few days. At the same time, according to the IMD forecast, moderate and shallow fog may appear in some parts of UP in the morning or late night on Wednesday. However, the Meteorological Department has not yet issued any alert regarding dense fog or cold wave.

Temperature will go below zero in many cities of Rajasthan

Temperatures have dropped significantly in Rajasthan. Minimum temperatures were recorded below 5 degrees Celsius in 16 cities. The maximum temperature in Sikar and Jhunjhunu dropped to 4 degrees Celsius. Weather experts predict that the cold will increase further in the next three days.

Orange alert of cold wave for the first time in the season 

For the first time in this season, the weather department has issued an orange alert for cold wave. Temperatures in many cities including Fatehpur (Sikar) may drop to zero or even below that. Mercury dropped below zero in Fatehpur near Sikar on Tuesday as well. Areas around Sikar and Churu also froze. The season's lowest temperatures were recorded in Bhilwara, Vanasthali, Alwar, Karauli, Churu, Sriganganagar and Jalore. Dew froze on the grass in the plains of Mount Abu and the temperature dropped below five degrees.

How is the weather condition in Maharashtra?

Many parts of Maharashtra are reeling under cold wave with minimum temperatures dropping to single digits at several places in the state. Baramati in Pune recorded a minimum temperature of 7.8 degrees Celsius while Pune and Nashik districts recorded eight degrees Celsius. The mercury dropped to 8.3 degrees Celsius in Jalgaon while Parbhani, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Dharashiv recorded minimum temperatures of 9.4, 10 and 10.2 degrees Celsius respectively. Malegaon in Nashik district recorded a minimum temperature of 9.8 degrees Celsius. In state capital Mumbai, the Santacruz observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 15 degrees Celsius while Colaba recorded a low of 20 degrees Celsius.

People are falling sick due to cold in Himachal

The effect of snowfall in the hilly areas is now visible in the plains as well. The temperature will continue to fall in the coming days. If we talk about Srinagar and Himachal Pradesh, then there is severe cold here these days. The temperature is continuously falling. The troubles of people in Kullu, Himachal are increasing. People are falling sick due to the cold. At the same time, the temperature in Jammu and Kashmir has reached below the freezing point. A layer of snow was seen at many places in Srinagar.

 

Snowfall in higher reaches of the valley on 21-22 December

Apart from this, ice has frozen on the banks of many water bodies including Dal Lake. Due to cold, the pipelines supplying water to many areas of the city and other places in the valley have frozen. The minimum temperature in tourist place Gulmarg was recorded at minus four degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Pahalgam was minus 6.8 degrees Celsius. Konibal located on the outskirts of Pampore city was the coldest place in the valley where the mercury dropped to minus 8.5 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Qazigund, the gateway to Kashmir, was recorded at minus six degrees Celsius. The weather office has predicted that the weather will remain mainly dry till December 26 and light snowfall in the higher areas of the valley on the night of December 21-22. The minimum temperature in the valley is expected to fall further and cold wave is expected in many places during the next three days. 

rain alert in Jharkhand

The Meteorological Department said that some parts of Jharkhand may receive light rain on December 20 and 21. The official said that the temperature in most parts of the state is below 10 degrees Celsius, but there may be partial relief as the minimum temperature may increase by three to five degrees Celsius from Wednesday due to the cyclone. Abhishek Anand, in-charge of Ranchi Meteorological Center, said that the minimum temperature is likely to increase by three to five degrees Celsius from Wednesday.

Minimum temperature below 10 degree Celsius in 13 cities of Odisha

Thirteen cities in Odisha recorded minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. The Weather Department on Tuesday said G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district was the coldest place in the state at 4.7 degrees Celsius. According to the Weather Department, the minimum temperature was recorded at 5.7 degrees in Rourkela and 7.2 degrees Celsius in Similiguda in Koraput district. The minimum temperature was 7.5 degrees Celsius in Phulbani, 8.6 degrees Celsius in Sundergarh, 8.9 degrees Celsius in Keonjhar and 9 degrees in Angul, Bhawanipatna, Kirei, Chiplima and Nabarangpur and 9.5 degrees Celsius in Bhadrak. It was 13.6 degrees in Bhubaneswar and 12.5 degrees Celsius in Cuttack.
