Dr. Gupta said that epilepsy is a common neurological disorder in which seizures occur due to abnormal brain activity. Its symptoms can vary according to the type of seizure, but usually symptoms like tremors in hands and legs, which keep occurring continuously for some time or loss of senses for some time are seen.
In some cases, a person also feels aura i.e. tingling, seeing light or hearing sound, which is not actually there.
Symptoms of Epilepsy
The symptoms of epilepsy can vary from person to person and also depend on the type of seizure. However, some common symptoms include-
- Stiffness: Any part of the body or the entire body may suddenly become stiff.
- Tremors - Body parts may jerk uncontrollably.
- Vision or hearing problems – Some people may have vision or hearing problems during a seizure.
- Confusion – A person may feel confused for some time after the seizure.
- Muscle weakness – After the attack, a person may feel muscle weakness for some time.
- Fainting – In some cases, the person may faint.
Dr. Gupta explains that in some cases, the person keeps staring at one place or may even get confused. Depending on the intensity of these symptoms, the person's daily life can be affected. Therefore, it is very important to identify and treat these symptoms early.
