The post of Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha was vacant in 2019

After the BJP came to power in 2014, the post of Deputy Speaker in the 16th Lok Sabha was given to the AIADMK by the BJP-led NDA. M Thambidurai was made the Deputy Speaker on behalf of it. In 2019, the Deputy Speaker was not elected in the 17th Lok Sabha. This post remained vacant throughout.
