The false case created to justify illegal detention of Maldivian woman.

The CBI has made this allegation in the charge sheet filed against five former police officers.

Thiruvananthapuram: The ISRO espionage case that falsely implicated scientist Nambi Narayanan was a deep-rooted conspiracy. According to the CBI, the conspiracy was allegedly hatched by a then special branch officer of Kerala police to justify the illegal detention of a Maldivian woman in India after she refused to have sex with the officer.

The CBI has made this allegation in the chargesheet filed against five former police officers for allegedly implicating Narayanan and five others, including two Maldivian women, in the espionage case. The chargesheet was filed in the last week of June and was made public on Wednesday. The CBI has said that the then Special Branch officer S Vijayan had taken the travel documents and air tickets of Maldivian citizen Maryam Rashida.

Implicated in a false case

Vijayan found out that she was in touch with ISRO scientist D Sasikumaran and based on that, Rashida and her friend Fauzia Hasan were put under surveillance. Rashida was arrested for overstaying in the country without a valid visa. When the custody was about to expire, she and Hasan were implicated in a case based on a false report submitted by Vijayan and their custody was handed over to the SIT.

Narayanan said- my role is over

After this, the SIT arrested four ISRO scientists including Narayanan. Reacting to this, Narayanan said that as a person he is not concerned whether the former police and IB officers named in the chargesheet are punished or not, because their role in the case is over. I do not expect an apology from them. I would have been happy if they had just said that they had made a mistake.
