New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reacted strongly to the attack on Hindu temples in Canada and said that such acts will not weaken India's resolve. PM Modi said that the Hindu temple in Canada has been deliberately attacked and he condemns it.
PM Modi posted on Twitter on Monday and wrote, 'I strongly condemn the deliberate attack on a Hindu temple in Canada. The cowardly attempts to intimidate our diplomats are equally appalling. Such acts of violence will never weaken India's resolve. We expect the Canadian government to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law.'
Hindu temple was targeted
Earlier, the Hindu Mahasabha temple in Brampton, Canada was targeted by Khalistan supporters. The extremists also attacked Hindu devotees. After the attacks, the Hindu Canadian Foundation, a non-profit organization working for the Hindu community in Canada, shared a video of the attack on the temple and said that Khalistani terrorists attacked children and women.
The Indian High Commission condemned the attack
The Indian High Commission in Ottawa had reacted strongly to the incident and said that it was extremely disturbing. The High Commission said that it is extremely disappointing to allow such disruptions to the regular consular work being organized by our consulates with the full cooperation of the local co-organizers. We are also very concerned about the safety of the applicants, including Indian citizens, on whose demand such programs are organized.
The High Commission also said that in view of these incidents and threats to Indian diplomats, any scheduled consular camps will now be conducted solely on the security arrangements made by the local authorities. The High Commission also said in its statement that if any camp is not organised due to such disruptions, alternative arrangements will be made to provide those services. However, these services may cause inconvenience to local users.
