News Topical, Digital Desk : The hijab controversy in Bihar continues to escalate. The opposition is repeatedly calling for an apology from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, but the BJP has clearly stated that he will not do so. Amidst this, several leaders have issued statements defending Nitish Kumar, prompting an attack from the RJD. On Thursday (December 18, 2025), RJD national spokesperson Kanchana Yadav addressed the issue.
RJD national spokesperson Kanchana Yadav released a video statement from her X handle. She raised questions, referring to the statements of UP ministers Sanjay Nishad and Giriraj Singh. Yadav said, "In the last two to three days, NDA leaders have crossed all limits with their anti-women statements. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar pulls off a woman's hijab, but to justify it, there's a minister in Uttar Pradesh, Sanjay Nishad, who simply says he pulled off the veil... if he had pointed a finger here and there... this minister... he wins with your votes."
'It's all anti-women'
The RJD spokesperson further said, "Another loudmouth and hateful minister is Giriraj Singh... Today (Thursday) he said that she (the hijab victim) should either work or go to hell... Will they protect the daughter? Will they educate the daughter? Will they raise the daughter? All this is only in their slogans. In reality, all of them are anti-women."
Attacking Nitish Kumar, he said, "Those who should have apologized... should have resigned, are all in the field today and a daughter who studies on her own and becomes a doctor is told to either take up a job or go to hell. They should be ashamed. Will they save the daughter... will they educate the daughter? The daughter came home educated but they could not save her. All the NDA leaders should be ashamed."
It's worth noting that UP Minister Sanjay Nishad, in support of Nitish Kumar, said that he's a man too. He shouldn't be pursued. What if he had touched someone else? So much is on the mask... what would you have said if he had touched someone else? Meanwhile, Giriraj Singh has said that the female doctor should either keep her job or go to hell. Now, Kanchana Yadav has questioned these two leaders' statements.
