News Topical, Digital Desk : The Uttarakhand Police have taken a tough stand regarding the security lapse that occurred on Thursday in the security arrangements for Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. A technical fault in one of the vehicles deployed in the Chief Minister's security fleet hampered security duties. This incident is considered extremely sensitive from a security perspective, as the Chief Minister is under Z+ category security. Therefore, any negligence is taken seriously.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence and Security) Abhinav Kumar issued instructions for immediate action. Based on preliminary findings, responsibility for the security lapse has been determined and the concerned personnel has been immediately suspended. Police officials say that any negligence in the security of VIPs is unacceptable.
Instructions to submit investigation report within seven days
Based on the report submitted by the Chief Security Officer of the Chief Minister's Security, as directed by the ADG Intelligence, the Superintendent of Police (Security) has been ordered to conduct a detailed investigation and submit the report within seven days. The investigation will also examine the causes of the technical faults in the vehicle and whether it was inspected and maintained periodically according to prescribed standards.
The status of deployed vehicles will now be checked
Additionally, instructions have been given to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current condition of all vehicles deployed for Chief Minister's security and Raj Bhavan security. The Superintendent of Police (Security) will be required to conduct a physical and technical inspection of all vehicles and submit a detailed report. Based on the inspection report, vehicles found unsuitable for security duty will be immediately removed from duty.
The police department has also clarified that the vehicles that will be removed will be replaced with alternative, fully fit vehicles immediately, to prevent a similar situation from occurring in the future. The entire matter is being monitored at a high level. The Uttarakhand Police reiterated that the security of all VIPs, including the Chief Minister, is a top priority and strict action will continue to be taken against any laxity in security standards.
