Ratan Tata had reached the hotel at the time of the firing

In 2008, 10 Pakistani terrorists entered South Mumbai via the sea and attacked several major places in the city including the Taj Hotel and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, causing chaos. Ratan Tata was 70 years old at that time and was seen standing at the Colaba end of the Taj Hotel at the time of the firing. In an interview, Ratan Tata said that someone called him and told him that there was firing inside the hotel, after which he called the staff of the Taj Hotel, but no one received his call.

'Bomb the whole property'

In that interview, Ratan Tata revealed that he told the security personnel, "Not a single terrorist should be left alive and if necessary, blow up the entire property with a bomb."

The terrorists of Pakistani terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) carried out the 26/11 attack in Mumbai, in which 166 people lost their lives and more than 300 people were injured. After this attack, Ratan Tata had talked about reopening the Taj Hotel and taking care of the families of those killed or injured in this attack.
