North Korea on Monday fired an intermediate-range ballistic missile into the sea. This fire has happened at a time when US Secretary of State Antonie Blicken is on a visit to Seoul amid the ongoing political turmoil in South Korea.

South Korea's military said the missile was fired eastward around noon. Shortly after, Antony Blicken met South Korea's acting President Choi Sang-mok.

America expressed commitment

According to the official statement, in the meeting Blinken emphasized America's unwavering security commitment to South Korea and called for building a strong joint defense team against North Korea's provocative policy.

After imposing martial law in South Korea, Yoon Suk Yol was impeached and removed, after which Choi Sang-mok has taken over as the acting president. On November 5, North Korea also fired short-range ballistic missiles on the east coast. This was North Korea's first launch since then.

North Korea is working on solid fuel

  • Although it is not yet clear what type of missile North Korea fired, last year it had designed a new solid fuel IRBM in the test. According to North Korea, it is like a hypersonic glide vehicle, which has been designed as a warhead to dodge missile defense.
  • North Korea has said it is working on solid fuels of all ranges. This type of fuel does not need to be filled immediately before launch. It is easier and safer to operate. It requires less logistical support, which makes it less vulnerable to detection.

Investigation is going on against Yun Suk Yol

On the other hand, the Corruption Investigation Office (CIO) is investigating Yoon Suk Yol in South Korea. The CIO says that the warrant is not being executed due to the protests over the arrest. They have expressed grief over the protests being carried out by Yoon Suk Yol's supporters.

Let us tell you that when the investigators arrived to arrest Yoon Suk Yol, Yol's security personnel clashed with them. Even before this, Yol's supporters had stopped the investigators from entering the residence.
