New Delhi: Hurun India has released the latest list of those who donated for philanthropic works in the country last year. A total of 1,539 rich people of the country have been included in this list, each of whom has a personal wealth of more than one thousand crore rupees. Let us know who has been at what position in donating for philanthropic works during the financial year 2023-24.

Shiv Nadar: HCL Technologies founder Shiv Nadar has topped the list in terms of donating for philanthropic works. Last year, Nadar donated Rs 2,153 crore and it has increased by five percent compared to 2022-23. Nadar has topped this list for the third consecutive year.

Mukesh Ambani: The country's second richest businessman Mukesh Ambani donated Rs 407 crore for philanthropic works last year and has been ranked second in the latest list. Ambani's rank has improved by one point last year.

Bajaj Family: The Bajaj family, which is into auto and financial sector business, donated Rs 352 crore last year and has been ranked third in this list. Last year, the Bajaj family has donated 33 percent more money than in 2022-23.

Kumaramangalam Birla and family: Kumaramangalam Birla and his family, who donated Rs 334 crore for philanthropic works, have been ranked fourth in the list this time. Last year, Kumaramangalam Birla and his family have donated 17 percent more money.

Gautam Adani: The country's richest businessman Gautam Adani has donated Rs 330 crore for philanthropic works last year. He has retained the fifth position in this list.

Other special things

Rohini Nilekani tops the list of women philanthropists with Rs 154 crore. Rohini is an author and wife of Infosys founder Nandan Nilekani.

The average donation amount of 203 donors has come down to Rs 43 crore during the last financial year. During 2022-23, 119 donors gave an average of Rs 71 crore.

Reliance Industries was the top donor with Rs 900 crore for philanthropic causes. The company had said it would spend Rs 840 crore on corporate social responsibilities (CSR).

The education sector received the highest donation amount of Rs 3,680 crore during the last financial year. Healthcare was second with Rs 626 crore and rural transformation was third with Rs 331 crore.
