Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has released a report claiming that from January 2023 to Chhath Puja this year, there have been more than 300 incidents of attack on Hindus across the country. These include 40 incidents of murder of Hindu girls, 131 attacks on temples, 84 attacks on Hindu festivals and religious pilgrimages and 58 incidents of attack on Hindu community or people.
According to the VHP, the actual figures of violence against Hindus could be 90 percent higher than this, because most of such cases of religious based violence do not come to the notice of the media. They are not public and no legal action is taken on them.
Releasing a 41-page report in four parts at a program, VHP joint general secretary Dr. Surendra Jain said that this is data based on media reports, which have come to light in media reports across the country and which have been recorded by the police. There are a total of 313 such violent incidents.
He said that only those violent incidents have been included in this report in which the criminals belonged to the Muslim community. Earlier, VHP had released a list of 400 cases of love jihad and mob violence against Hindus in the year 2022. This is its first attempt to release a report of comprehensive attacks.
Dr. Jain said that this makes it clear that not only in Bangladesh, Canada or any other country, but in India too, the Hindu community is a victim of religion-based violence. According to VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal, the data has been prepared by three teams in 15 days.
It has a state-wise and date-wise detail of the incidents. According to the report, out of the total 40 cases of murder of Hindu girls, 15 cases have been reported from Uttar Pradesh alone, while out of the total 131 cases of attack on temples, 51 incidents are from Uttar Pradesh.
