We will not allow Sri Lanka's land to be misused
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake discussed several fronts during his meeting with Jaishankar. During this, he said that he would not allow Sri Lankan land to be used for activities against India. Both countries emphasized that our security interests are interconnected.
India assured support on the economic front
India assured Sri Lanka of its continued support to rebuild its economy and in return Colombo said its territory would not be allowed to be used in a manner detrimental to New Delhi's security interests.
During a meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar here, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said India's economic support is crucial to realise his vision of a prosperous Sri Lanka and meet the aspirations of the people.
New agreement will be signed with Sri Lanka
Jaishankar is the first foreign minister to visit Sri Lanka after the Dissanayake-led National People's Power (NPP) government came to power on September 23. He assured that India will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Sri Lanka on bilateral debt restructuring and support the private bond holder debt restructuring agreement.
Jaishankar said – energy production will bring economic stability
During his meeting with Dissanayake, Jaishankar emphasised how ongoing initiatives in the areas of energy generation and transmission and fuel and LNG supplies, among other areas, would contribute to economic stability for the island nation and provide new sources of revenue.
