Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, while stressing on the importance of family, has expressed concern over the declining population of Hindus in India without naming them. He said that if the population growth rate of the society falls below 2.1 percent, then the society does not need to destroy anyone, it will get destroyed on its own. Therefore, it is very important to have at least three children.
Addressing the 'Kathal Kul Sammelan' in Nagpur on Sunday, RSS chief Bhagwat said, "Kutumba (family) is a part of society and every family is its unit. The population policy of our country, which was decided around 1998 or 2002, says that the population growth rate should not be below 2.1. We need more than two children, that is, three (as population growth rate), this is what population science says. This number is important because it (society) should survive."
The population of Hindus is decreasing in the country
Keep in mind that this year India has taken a big leap in increasing population and has overtaken China to become the world leader in population. Although the majority Hindus in India were 80 percent in the last census, but this year, due to the decrease in their population growth rate, their total population in the country has come down to 78.9 percent. While the Hindu population is still around 1.094 billion in the country. 95 percent of the world's Hindus live in India. While the growth rate of Muslim population in the country has increased.
