Lahore. The ruling Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) in Pakistan on Saturday decided to make former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif the party president and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif the acting president. Nawaz Sharif has been the Prime Minister of Pakistan thrice while his younger brother Shahbaz Sharif is currently at the helm of the country.

The formal announcement of the organisational responsibilities of the two leaders will be made in the party's General Council meeting on May 28. Shahbaz Sharif resigned from the post of acting president of the party this week, saying that he was unable to do justice to this role.

Shahbaz recommended giving the post of party chief to Nawaz

He has recommended that brother Nawaz Sharif be given the post of party chief. The decision to give Nawaz and Shahbaz top party positions has been taken by the PML (N) Central Working Committee. Nawaz Sharif lost his post of party president after his name cropped up in the Panama Paper Leak case.

Nawaz went to London and returned to Pakistan

After this, the party made Shahbaz the acting president to run the organisational activities. But now that Nawaz, who had gone to London for treatment, has returned to Pakistan and all the charges against him have been withdrawn, it has been decided to give him the command of the party once again.
