Another shocking incident in Bangladesh has exposed the chaos prevailing in the interim government led by Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus. In this incident, members of the fundamentalist Jamaat-e-Islami party humiliated and harassed the country's famous freedom fighter Abdul Hai Kanu by garlanding him with shoes.

Jamaat-e-Islami was banned during the rule of Sheikh Hasina

The Jamaat-e-Islami party was banned under the anti-terrorism law until the Sheikh Hasina government was ousted. In a nearly two-minute video circulating on the internet media, several young Jamaat activists are seen garlanding the elderly Kanu with shoes and asking him to leave his house in Ludiara village of Comilla district in Chittagong

During this, a person said, "Can you apologize to the people of the entire village?" So Kanu apologized to everyone with folded hands. Kanu had gone to the local market on Sunday morning, where some people caught him. Kanu returned to his village after the Awami League government fell.

Pakistanis behaved more violently than animals

"I thought this time I would be able to live comfortably in the village. But they treated me more violently than Pakistani wild animals," Kanu was quoted as saying by a Bangladeshi news portal.

Dreaded terrorists are also among those who threaten

It is worth mentioning that 'Bir Pratik' is the fourth highest bravery award of Bangladesh and Kanu is among the 426 people who have been awarded this award. He was given this award for displaying indomitable courage during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971. Reports have said that one of the people who threatened Kanu was a dreaded terrorist who had gone to Dubai in 2006 and returned after the formation of the interim government led by Yunus.

Hasina's party said - attack on the dignity of the country

The ban on Jamaat was lifted immediately after the formation of the interim government. Reacting to the incident, Sheikh Hasina's party Awami League said that such treatment of the heroes of Bangladesh Liberation War cannot be tolerated and it is a direct attack on the dignity and history of the country. The party urged the countrymen to stand against it.
