It is said about Maharishi Shukracharya that he was the Guru of demons. He was also an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. Not only this, in astrology too, the Guru of demons Shukra Dev holds an important place. In such a situation, let us know how Shukracharya got the title of Guru of demons.
This is how he became the guru of demons
When Shukra grew up a little, his father sent him to Angiras's ashram to receive education. Angiras's son was Brihaspati, who also studied with Shukracharaya. It is said that Shukracharaya's intellect was sharper than Brihaspati's. But even then Angiras loved his son more. For this reason, Shukra left his education midway and started receiving education from Gautam Rishi. Then Gautam Rishi advised him to worship Lord Shiva.
Shiva was pleased with the penance
When Shukracharya came to know that the gods have accepted Brihaspati Dev as their Guru, then he followed the advice of Gautam Rishi and did severe penance to please Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva was very pleased with this and asked him to ask for a boon. Then Shukracharya asked Mahadev for the Mrit Sanjivani Mantra. Through this mantra any dead person could be brought back to life. After this, when Shukracharya reached his ashram, he came to know that his mother had helped the demons, due to which she had to face death at the hands of Lord Vishnu.
Demons were revived
This made Shukracharya very angry and he used the Mritsanjeevani mantra to revive a large number of dead demons and made them his disciples. He also cursed Lord Vishnu to be born as a human. Therefore, Shukracharya became known as the Guru of demons.
