Worship of Hanuman Ji is prohibited in this village of Uttarakhand.
Hanuman Ji is not worshipped in the village named Dronagiri, situated amidst the mountains in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. This tradition has been going on for centuries. Actually there is a mythological story behind this.

According to this story, during the Ramayana period, when Ravana's son Meghnad used Brahmastra to make Lakshman unconscious, Ram ji was deeply hurt by this incident. In such a situation, on the request of Ravana's brother Vibhishan, Hanuman ji brings Susain Vaidya with him from Lanka. After which Susain Vaidya asks Hanuman ji to bring Sanjivani herb for Lakshman ji.

Without any delay Hanuman ji sets out towards Dronagiri mountain to bring Sanjivani herb. But after reaching there Hanuman ji is unable to identify Sanjivani herb, then he takes the entire mountain with him to Lanka.

According to the people of Drongiri village, Hanuman ji had taken Sanjivani herb without the permission of the village goddess, due to which the people of the village were very angry and broke all relations with him.
