Hiranyakashyap is seen as a cruel father. Because he tortured his son Prahlad a lot. The reason for this was that Prahlad was an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu and Hiranyakashyap considered Vishnu ji as his enemy. Therefore, he tortured Prahlad a lot. He gave up his life while remembering his son

King Dasharath had four sons, out of which Rama was his favourite. He loved his son Rama a lot. But due to the promise given to Queen Kaikeyi, he had to send Rama to exile even though he did not want to. He kept remembering Rama till his last breath and while remembering his son, he gave up his life.
