The think tank says China's military could isolate Taiwan, cripple its economy and force the democratic island to capitulate to Beijing's Communist Party without firing a shot.
Xi Jinping raised concerns
This fear has increased over the past few years due to Chinese leader Xi Jinping's increasingly aggressive stance towards Taiwan. In such a situation, concerns about the Communist Party's intentions to take control of Taiwan by force have intensified. China's refusal to condemn Russia's attack on Ukraine has further increased these fears.
China will start military blockade!
Analysts and military strategists say there are two major options available to China: a full-scale invasion and a military blockade.
However, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington has pointed to China's third and most dangerous option besides the first and second - the gray zone strategy. Under this, the Chinese Coast Guard, its maritime militia and maritime security agencies can blockade Taiwan.
China's Grey Zone Strategy
This will then cut off vital supplies such as energy from reaching Taiwan's approximately 23 million people. Since September 2020, China has intensified its use of grey zone tactics by increasing the number of military aircraft and naval ships operating near Taiwanese territory.

At the same time, China's National Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun tried to prevent China's war with Taiwan. Now he warned external forces for encouraging Taiwan independence separatists and said that these malicious intentions are dragging Taiwan into a dangerous situation. He also said that anyone who dares to separate Taiwan from China will be trapped in self-destruction.
