Santiago: Scientists in Chile have developed a vaccine for sterilization of dogs. In this, the sterilization process was completed without any surgery. This vaccine was given to Chilean Terrier Findley. Findley is the first dog in the world who was sterilized without any surgery.

There is a big problem of stray dogs in India. Many cases of attacks by these dogs have been reported. If such a vaccine can be made available in India at a low cost, then this problem can be solved.

It is an immunocastration vaccine

The procedure was performed on Findley at her home in Santiago. It involved neither anesthesia nor a surgical procedure. It was just a simple injection. The developers say it is an immunocastration vaccine called Egalite.

Professor Leonardo Saenz of the University of Chile, who developed it, says it works by blocking reproductive hormones. Blocking the hormones prevents the release of gonadotropins, so sexual hormones are not released and the animals become infertile.

Very easy to inject

The vaccine can be used on both male and female dogs. It costs about 50,000 Chilean pesos ($54). Saenz said mass production would be extremely helpful in sterilizing animals. The injection is very easy to administer. If you need to control fertility, you can vaccinate a large number of animals.
