According to the Panchang, Chhath Puja begins on the Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. At the same time, this great festival ends on Saptami Tithi. In such a situation, this festival will run from 05 November to 08 November.

 Importance of Chhath Puja

  • The festival begins with Nahai Khay (Nahay Khay Chhath Puja 2024) on the first day of Chhath. Bathing in the holy river has more importance on this special occasion. On this day, women eat once a day.

  • The second day of the great festival is called Kharna (Kharna Chhath Puja 2024). On this day, women fast from sunrise to sunset and women do not even consume water.

  • The next day, i.e. on the third day, a Nirjala fast is observed and arghya is offered to the setting sun.

  • On the last day of the great festival, women offer water to the rising sun and break their fast at the auspicious time.

  • During Chhath Puja, utensils or puja material should not be touched with unclean hands. It is believed that doing so breaks the devotee's fast.
