New Delh: Bharat Gupta, CEO of Jagran New Media, has resigned from the post of President of Misinformation Combat Alliance (MCA). He took charge in January 2022. Bharat Gupta played an important role in strengthening MCA during his tenure of more than one and a half years. MCA includes 12 fact checking organizations, three media companies and civil tech organizations.

Bharat Gupta spoke about his tenure as MCA President. He said, 'After nearly three years of joint efforts to protect our society from the deadly spread of false and misleading information, I believe it is time for new leadership to guide the organization. I am very grateful for the continued support of my fellow MCA members and the dedication of our fact checkers. Together we have made significant progress in combating the epidemic of fake and misleading information.'

He also said that I am resigning from the post of President of MCA. However, my responsibility to fight misinformation is as strong as before. Your efforts will inspire and empower all of us. I believe in the mission and vision of the organization. Also, I have full faith in the ability of the team to bring about impactful change in this fight. I will continue to support MCA's efforts to promote digital safety and fact checking.

MCA also launched significant initiatives under the leadership of Bharat Gupta. This includes collaboration with Google to fight election-related misinformation and a partnership with Meta's Deepfake Analysis Unit. MCA's initiative launched a WhatsApp helpline operating in multiple languages ​​to provide real-time fact-checking assistance. Bharat Gupta's visionary leadership has strengthened MCA's influence in India and globally, and has also increased the shared commitment to digital literacy and accurate information.
