
A shocking news has come out from the US state of Michigan. This news is related to face transplant, 30-year-old Derek Pfack tried to kill himself but miraculously survived, but his face was completely ruined. Now after a life-changing surgery, he has suffered a second setback in his life.
According to a report, Pfaff underwent a grueling process at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester earlier this year that lasted more than 50 hours and involved at least 80 health care professionals.
58 surgeries done in 10 years
Over the past 20 years, a little over 50 facial surgeries have been performed worldwide. Before the operation at the Mayo Clinic, Pfaff had undergone 58 facial surgeries in the past 10 years, which left him unable to eat or talk to friends and family because he had no nose. "I feel very confident," Pfaff said.
Pfaff has expressed his pain through the video. In the video, Pfaff can be seen saying, "After my last surgery, the doctor told my parents that he could do nothing more than referring us for a face transplant. This surgery has changed my life. I feel much more confident.''
According to doctors, about 85 per cent of Mr Pfaff's face has been reconstructed and replaced with donor tissue. The upper and lower eyelids, upper and lower jaws, teeth, nose, cheek structure and neck skin are some of the parts that have been reconstructed.

The son of Jerry and Lisa Pfaff, Mr. Pfaff was a straight-A student and the captain and star of the school's only state championship football team. On the night of March 5, 2014, Mr. Pfaff, then 19, decided to take his own life while home during college spring break. His family arrived and he was immediately rushed to the hospital where he eventually regained consciousness.
