ATF Price Hike: Due to the holy festival of Diwali Chhath, air fares are already skyrocketing. Now air travel can become even more expensive. Government oil marketing companies have also increased the prices of aviation fuel along with commercial LPG cylinders. From November 1, 2024, the price of Aviation Turbine Fuel i.e. ATF has been increased by 3.35 percent or 2941.5 kilolitres. In such a situation, the pockets of air travelers are going to be cut further during the season of Chhath Puja and weddings. 

ATF becomes costlier by 3.35%

Government oil companies had reduced the price of ATF in the month of October, but in the month of November, citing the increase in the price of crude oil, the price of ATF has been increased. In the capital Delhi, the price of ATF has increased by Rs 2941 per kiloliter to Rs 90538.72 per kiloliter, which was Rs 87587.22 per kiloliter last month. That is, ATF has now become 3.35 percent more expensive. The new price of ATF in Delhi has become Rs 90538.72 per kiloliter, Rs 93392 in Kolkata, Rs 84642 in Mumbai and Rs 93957 per kiloliter in Chennai. 

Air travel will be expensive

The effect of expensive ATF can be seen immediately. Domestic airlines can make air travel expensive. Anyway, the largest airline Indigo has presented the results of the second quarter of the current financial year 2024-25, in which the company's profits have come down drastically due to expensive ATF. In such a situation, now the airlines can directly put the burden of increase in ATF on air passengers. Due to expensive ATF along with the fall in rupee against the dollar (Weak Rupee), airlines can make air fares expensive because their operation cost is getting affected. ATF prices account for about 40 percent of the total cost of airlines' operations and its increase also increases the cost of airlines. 

Travelling will be expensive on new year

The month of November has started and the year 2024 is about to end. People plan to visit tourist places at the end of the year to welcome the new year. Due to the high cost of aviation fuel, the budget of people planning to travel may be affected.
