A man died after swallowing adulterated heroin in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. It is being told that the man swallowed a packet of chitta (adulterated heroin) out of fear of getting caught, due to which he died in Kangra. Police gave this information on Friday. However, the young man's family has refused to reveal his identity. The young man died at his home on Thursday during treatment.

Police said that on January 25, police had caught a youth in Badsar area. 15 grams of chitta was recovered from him, but he dodged the policemen and swallowed the packet of chitta. When his health deteriorated, he was admitted to the ICU of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bilaspur. Doctors removed the packet of drugs from the youth's stomach, but the packet had burst. The youth was treated for more than a month. 

Many organs are affected, including the kidneys

Hamirpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhagat Singh Thakur said that due to the adulterated drug, many organs of the youth including his kidneys were badly affected. The youth was also undergoing dialysis. Despite the efforts of the doctors, the youth could not be saved. He said that cases related to drugs were registered against the youth earlier also. 

Petrol pump owner arrested

Let us tell you that earlier on Thursday, Badsar police arrested Ashish Kumar, owner of a petrol pump in Bani Kaswa, from whose premises about 38.63 grams of chitta was recovered. The local court has sent the accused to police custody till April 7. The petrol pump owner used to smuggle chitta and when the police raided his office, the smuggled items were recovered and he was arrested. Police said that the accused has been involved in the supply of narcotics earlier as well.
