Chennai:  There is news of a major railway accident from Tiruvallur in Tamil Nadu, where the Bagmati Superfast Express going from Mysore to Darbhanga collided with a stationary train. There is also news of a fire in the train due to the accident. 

Tiruvallur police told the agency that a passenger train travelling from Mysore to Perambur via Darbhanga collided with a stationary goods train at Kavarappettai railway station near Tiruvallur. Railway officials have reached the accident site.

Many people are reported to be injured

News agency PTI quoted railway police as saying that the express train hit a stationary train in Kavarapettai, Tamil Nadu. Police have also feared that many people may have been injured in the accident. Police told the agency that rescue teams and ambulances have left for the spot. According to the information, in the accident, Bagmati Superfast derailed 10 minutes after leaving Perambur. The rear 3 coaches are completely damaged and the coach has also derailed.
