News Topical, Digital Desk : Ten people have died in a dangerous road accident in Mexico. A speeding bus overturned in eastern Mexico on Wednesday, December 24, a day before Christmas, killing 10 people, including a child, and injuring 32 others.
Dangerous road accident in Mexico
The accident occurred on Thursday, December 25, in the town of Xontecomatlan, just before Christmas. The bus was traveling from Mexico City to the village of Chicontepec. Due to speeding or a mechanical failure, the bus overturned. Ten lives were lost in the tragic accident.
"We confirm the deaths of nine adults and one child in this accident," the mayor's office of Jontecomatlan said in a statement.
The municipality also released a list of 32 people injured in the incident, along with information about which hospitals they were admitted to.
Road accidents are on the rise in Mexico
Mexico experiences many fatal road accidents, most commonly involving buses and trucks. These accidents are often caused by speeding or mechanical failure.
A similar incident occurred in late November, killing 10 people and injuring 20 in the western state of Michoacan. A similar incident has occurred just a month later.
