News Topical, Digital Desk : Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU) will now prepare a new crop of forensic science experts. The Department of Pharmacy, under the university's School of Pharmaceutical and Biological Sciences, will introduce an MSc in Forensic Science course from the 2026-27 academic year. Additionally, B.Tech in AI-ML and BBA courses will be offered at the undergraduate level, with 60 seats each.
According to the university administration, 30 seats have been initially allocated for the MSc in Forensic Science. The primary objective of this course is to develop experts skilled in crime investigation and analysis of scientific evidence. Given the growing demand in forensic labs and investigative agencies, this course is considered crucial. To achieve this, the Pharmacy Department has established high-end chemical and analytical labs. After completing the course, students will be able to pursue careers in state and central forensic labs (FSLs), crime branches, cyber cells, and private investigation agencies.
Additionally, a B.Tech in AI-ML course is being introduced at the undergraduate level, teaching students modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, and automation. Demand for this course is growing in the IT sector, startups, and research institutions. For the first time, a BBA course is being introduced at the university's School of Entrepreneurship and Management. Students must pass the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission to all courses. The university can also conduct its own exams if necessary.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Samsher stated that employment-oriented and skill-based courses are being added to provide youth with employment opportunities while earning a degree. This is the objective of introducing new courses.
