News Topical, Digital Desk : "Lajwal Ishq", a Turkish production based on the British superhit show " Love Island" , brought eight Pakistani young men and women to a luxury villa in Istanbul, where scenes like bikinis, flirting, kissing and bed sharing were openly shown.

Initially billed as a "fun escape into modern romance," as its trailer and episodes went viral in Pakistan, it collided directly with the country's cultural, religious, and legal boundaries.

In Pakistan, dating and sex outside of marriage are not only socially taboo but also punishable by law. As a result, YouTube blocked the show across Pakistan after 50 episodes were released.

Host Ayesha Omar faced severe trolling and abuse, while the show's makers claimed it was due to "political pressure" and urged viewers to use VPNs. The incident once again highlights the deep conflict in Pakistani society between Western entertainment, individual freedom, and religious-traditional values.
