Floating in water: This is the oldest method. Take a glass of clean water and place the Rudraksha in it. Genuine Rudraksha is solid and heavy, so it sinks. If the Rudraksha is made of wood or plastic, it will float on the water. However, sometimes very old and dried genuine Rudraksha can float, so be sure to perform other tests as well.
Using hot water: Soak the Rudraksha in boiling water for about 20-30 minutes. Boiling water does not affect genuine Rudraksha; it will not lose its color. If the Rudraksha has been glued together using glue or paint, it will separate or lose its color in boiling water.
With a copper coin: Rudraksha has electromagnetic properties. If you place a Rudraksha between two copper coins and apply gentle pressure, a genuine Rudraksha may feel a slight movement or spin.
