Earlier, Trump announced that the US was deploying a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East. The USS Gerald R. Ford, the world's largest aircraft carrier, will depart from the Caribbean and join US warships and military assets already deployed there. Trump then added, "If we can't reach a deal, we'll need it, and it will be leaving very soon."
It's worth noting that this deployment of US warships comes just days after Trump raised the possibility of a new round of talks with Iran, but these talks failed to take place. A top Iranian security official visited Oman and Qatar and exchanged messages through US mediators. Trump's statement could escalate tensions in the Middle East.
