News Topical, Digital Desk : Ekadashi of the Shukla Paksha ( waxing phase) of the month of Phalgun is called 'Rangbhari Ekadashi' or 'Amalaki Ekadashi'. This is the only Ekadashi in Hinduism where special worship is offered to Lord Vishnu, as well as Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. This day is celebrated as a festival in Kashi because it is believed that on this day Lord Shiva brought Goddess Parvati to Kashi for the first time after her 'Gauna' ceremony. When is Rangbhari Ekadashi 2026? (Rangbhari Ekadashi 2026 Shubh Muhurat)

According to the Hindu calendar, Ekadashi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of the Phalgun month will begin at 12:33 AM on February 27th. It will end at 10:32 PM on February 27th. Based on the calendar, the Rangbhari Ekadashi fast will be observed on February 27th. The fast will be broken between 6:47 AM and 9:06 AM on February 28th.

Significance of Rangbhari Ekadashi (Rangbhari Ekadashi 2026 Significance)

According to religious beliefs, on this day, after their marriage on Mahashivratri, Bholenath bid farewell to Goddess Parvati and brought her to his hometown, Kashi. Therefore, devotees welcome Baba Vishwanath on this day by offering him abir and gulal (colourful colour). Rangbhari Ekadashi is considered the beginning of Holi in Kashi. From this day onwards, Holi is celebrated with great fervor for the next six days. Lord Vishnu and the Amla tree are also worshipped on this day, which is called Amalaki Ekadashi.

Method of worship (Rangbhari Ekadashi 2026 Puja Vidhi)

  • Wake up early in the morning, take a bath and wear yellow clothes.
  • Install the idols of Shiva-Parvati and Shri Hari on a platform.
  • Offer them sandalwood, Bilva leaves, cannabis and Datura, garlands of flowers, sweets and cosmetics.
  • Apply pink colored gulal to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. This symbolizes marital bliss and good fortune.
  • Along with this, worship Lord Vishnu as per the rituals.
  • Offer them Amla fruit and light a ghee lamp under the Amla tree.
  • Offer Kheer or Thandai to Lord Shiva.
  • Finally, recite the Ekadashi Katha, Shiva Chalisa, and chant Vedic mantras dedicated to Goddess Parvati.
  • Perform Aarti at the end.
