When is Chaitra Navratri? (Chaitra Navratri 2026 Date and Time)
According to the Hindu calendar, the Pratipada Tithi of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of the month of Chaitra begins on March 19th at 6:52 am. It will end on March 20th at 4:52 am. Therefore, Chaitra Navratri will begin on March 19th
Auspicious time for Kalash installation (Kalash Sthapana Muhurat)
The first auspicious time for Kalash installation will be from 6:52 am to 7:43 am. The second auspicious time, Abhijit Muhurta, will be from 12:05 pm to 12:53 pm.
Kalash Installation Method
- Clean the northeast direction and place a wooden stand there.
- Fill an earthen pot with clean soil and sow barley in it
- Tie a sacred thread on a copper or clay pot, put pure water, Ganga water, coin, betel nut and Akshat in it.
- Place five mango or Ashoka leaves on the mouth of the Kalash and place a coconut wrapped in Kalava on top.
- Place the Kalash in the middle of the sown barley pot and invoke Goddess Durga.
- Then worship the goddess properly.
- Recite Durga Saptashati.
- Conclude the puja with Aarti.
Significance of Navratri
This year, Chaitra Navratri begins on Thursday. According to astrology, when Navratri begins on Thursday or Friday, the Goddess is believed to arrive on a palanquin. This indicates an increase in devotion and spiritual power this year. During this nine-day festival, nine different forms of the Mother Goddess will be worshipped
