News Topical, Digital Desk : We often read a line in the Hanuman Chalisa: "Ashta Siddhi Nav Nidhi Ke Data, As Bar Deen Janaki Mata." This means that Mother Sita gave Hanuman the eight Siddhis and nine Nidhis, with the help of which he can make even the impossible possible. But have you ever wondered what these eight Siddhis are and how they work?

Today , on the auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti , let us know about the superpowers of Bajrangbali, which made him 'Mahabali'.

These are the 8 divine powers of Hanuman ji.

  • Anima: With this siddhi, Hanuman can shrink his body to the size of an atom. Remember, when he invaded Lanka, he used this power to transform into the form of a mosquito.
  • Mahima: This is the exact opposite of Anima. Hanuman can make his body as large as a mountain. According to the Ramayana, Hanuman used this siddhi during his crossing of Lanka and upon reaching Lanka, to demonstrate the strength of the monkey army.
  • Garima: With this power, Hanuman can increase his weight to such an extent that no force in the world can even move him. In the Mahabharata, Hanuman used this power to increase the weight of his tail to break Bhima's pride.
  • Laghima: This siddhi allows Hanuman to make his body as light as cotton or a feather. This allows him to fly for miles without tiring and even walk on water.
  • Prapti: This power means the ability to acquire anything. It allows them to understand the language of animals and birds and to foresee future events.
  • Prakamya: This is associated with willpower. With its help, Hanuman can travel to the underworld, fly in the sky, and remain underwater for long periods of time.
  • Ishitva: This seventh power is the power of leadership. It means "Godhood." Because of this accomplishment, the entire monkey army accepted his leadership, and he became known as the master of divine powers.
  • Vashitva: With this power Hanuman ji can control anyone, but Hanuman ji has used it only for the protection of religion and suppression of evil people.

The most significant and authentic source of these accomplishments of Hanumanji is the Sundarkand of the Ramcharitmanas. In it, Goswami Tulsidas describes the boon granted to him by Mother Sita. Furthermore, the ancient Markandeya Purana and Maharishi Patanjali's Yoga Sutras also detail these eight accomplishments (Ashta Siddhis), which are attained through rigorous yoga and devotion.
