News Topical, Digital Desk : Former Pakistani ambassador Husain Haqqani on Monday took a swipe at Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, citing Sharif's repeated outspoken praise for US President Donald Trump.
Sharif praised Trump's role as a champion of global peace, a move Haqqani taunted, accusing him of flattery.
After all, what did Shahbaz say in praise?
In fact, Shahbaz Sharif thanked Trump in his official X-post. He wrote that Trump played a key role in establishing peace between Cambodia and Thailand. He also praised his efforts to bring stability to the Kuala Lumpur Agreement, the Gaza Peace Plan, and the Middle East and South Asia.
Sharif said Trump's efforts saved millions of lives around the world. It's worth noting that earlier this year, Sharif nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Haqqani made a sharp satire
Hussain Haqqani immediately responded to Sharif's post, writing that the Pakistani Prime Minister is still leading the race for the gold medal in the Olympic competition of flattering Trump. Indian Congress MP Shashi Tharoor also shared Haqqani's post on his official X account.
Earlier, Sharif had also praised Trump at the Gaza Peace Summit in Egypt on October 13. In the presence of world leaders, Sharif said that peace in the Middle East was achieved due to Trump's tireless efforts and his excellent team.
He claimed that Trump prevented a war between India and Pakistan and brought about a ceasefire, for which Pakistan nominated him for the Nobel.
