New York: Concrete action will now be taken against Pakistan's UN-listed terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Al-Qaeda, IS and their supporters. The foreign ministers of India, Brazil and South Africa took this joint resolution on Thursday.

Organised under the India-Brazil-South Africa group IBSA, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly. It was attended by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, his Brazilian counterpart Mauro Vieira and South Africa's Ronald Lamola.

All those present in the meeting condemned terrorism in all its forms and agreed that it was a global menace that must be fought. Safe havens for terrorists in every part of the world must be eliminated. All said that the fight against terrorism must be fought in accordance with international law, in particular the Charter of the United Nations and full respect for international human rights law.

The three called for concrete action against all terrorists and their masterminds, including LeT, JeM and other such terrorist organisations. The ministers also reiterated their resolve to intensify united efforts for early adoption of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism at the United Nations General Assembly.

They also called on the global community to establish a strong counter-terrorism mechanism and for the United Nations to play a central role in it. They also recalled the responsibility of all States to prevent and combat terrorism, including cross-border movement of terrorists, financing of terrorist networks and terrorist actions from their territories.

Expressed concern over the Ukraine-Russia conflict and also expressed his opinion on the Israel-Gaza issue, calling for reducing tensions and promoting direct dialogue in order to establish peace.
