63 organizations blacklisted
The annual report released by Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that in 2024, more than 4,600 people became victims of sexual violence.
The report's blacklist names 63 government and non-government parties from a dozen countries that are suspected of committing or being responsible for rape and other forms of sexual violence during the conflict, including Hamas militants.
No steps were taken to prevent sexual violence
The UN chief said that more than 70 percent of the listed parties have remained on the black list for the last five years, meaning no steps have been taken by them to prevent sexual violence.
Warning to Israel and Russia For the first time, the report has also held Israel and Russia responsible for sexual violence.
UN accuses Israeli army
The UN has warned that both these countries could be put on the black list next year. According to the UN, the Israeli army and security forces are mainly accused of sexual abuse of Palestinians imprisoned and detained in jails. The Russian army and allied armed groups are accused of sexual atrocities against Ukrainian prisoners of war. Although Israel said that the UN's allegations are full of bias, Russia did not comment on this.
Men are also harassed
The report said that cases of sexual violence against men and boys are also being reported continuously. These include rape, threat of rape, electric shock and hitting the genitals.
