News Topical, Digital Desk : Maharashtra News: The Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) has declared its support to the march to be taken out on July 5 in support of the Marathi language. The party's state president Jayantrao Patil has clarified the party's stand by tweeting a letter.

Jayant Patil wrote in his letter, "When the question of Maharashtra's interest arises, then we stand with Maharashtra and when it comes to national interest, then we stand with the nation. At this time, forgetting party differences and being united is the clear policy of the 'Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar)'.

'Government is adamant on imposing language forcefully'
In the letter, he further wrote, "The Maharashtra government has planned to make Hindi language compulsory from the first grade by implementing the three-language formula under the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020). In protest against this, there is a strong resentment among Marathi speakers in Maharashtra. Many students, parents, educationists, linguists and other dignitaries have lodged various objections to the implementation of the three-language formula from the first grade. But ignoring all these, the state government is adamant on imposing Hindi forcefully."

'No opposition to Hindi language'
Jayant Patil further wrote, "Actually, if you understand the public sentiment of Maharashtra, it is clear that no one has any objection to learning other languages or to the Hindi language. But primary education should be in the mother tongue, this is the clear demand of the public and ours too. This is also our role as 'Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar)'."

He made it clear that if there is an attempt to suppress the mother tongue under the guise of the three-language formula of the education policy, then the Marathi community will unite and oppose it. Those in power should take serious note of this.

'Full support of our party'
Patil also wrote, "A march is being taken out by the entire Marathi community in Mumbai on the coming Saturday, 5th July 2025, in protest against the compulsory Hindi language being implemented through the three-language formula under the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) of the Maharashtra government. This march has the full support of the 'Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar)'."
