News Topical, Digital Desk : Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh are currently known as powerful actors in Hindi cinema. Their films are highly praised by audiences. Based on this, today we're going to share an interesting story about Ranbir and Ranveer, when Ranbir Kapoor replaced Ranveer Singh in a film.

But this gamble backfired on Ranbir, and the movie proved to be a massive flop. Made on a hefty budget of ₹90 crore, it was roundly rejected by audiences and critics.

Ranbir Kapoor's mega flop films

In his 18-year film career, Ranbir Kapoor has delivered numerous hits. However, some of his films have flopped at the box office. One of them was Bombay Velvet. Released in theaters in 2015, this film by director Anurag Kashyap proved to be a disaster. During a recent media interview, Anurag revealed that his first choice for Bombay Velvet was Ranveer Singh.

But later, due to some reasons, we couldn't work out with him, and we ended up casting Ranbir. Our film's budget ranged between 23 and 90 crores. However, its failure truly surprised us. Bombay Velvet was a crime thriller that failed due to a poor story.

In addition to Ranbir Kapoor, the film also featured powerful actors like Anushka Sharma, Vicky Kaushal, Kay Kay Menon, and Karan Johar. It's worth noting that despite such a strong cast, Bombay Velvet failed to make an impact.

Bombay Velvet box office performance

Looking at Bombay Velvet's commercial performance, according to a Bollywood Hungama report, the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer's lifetime box office collection was 32 crores, while worldwide it only managed to earn 43 crores. Consequently, Bombay Velvet failed to even recover its cost and became a major flop in Hindi cinema.
