News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he could meet Russian President Vladimir Putin very soon. This statement came after a very successful conversation between Trump's special envoy and Putin in Moscow.

Trump also spoke on the phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The NATO chief and leaders of Britain, Germany and Finland were also present in this conversation.

Trump says a big step can be taken towards ending the Ukraine-Russia war. Trump told reporters at the White House, "There is a good opportunity to meet Putin and Zelensky very soon."

However, he did not say where his meeting with Putin would take place. According to the New York Times and CNN, Trump may meet Putin next week and then wants to talk with Putin and Zelensky.

Will the Russia-Ukraine war end now?

Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff met with the Russian leadership in Moscow, which the Kremlin described as 'successful'. Trump has warned Russia that if steps towards peace are not taken by Friday, new sanctions will be imposed. Trump wrote on his social media site Truth Social, “Big progress has been made!”

He said that some allies in Europe were also informed about this and everyone wants this war to end soon. But, a senior American official clarified that 'other sanctions' are expected after two days.

He had promised to end the war within 24 hours of coming to power

Trump had earlier claimed that he would end this war within 24 hours of coming to power. On the other hand, Russia has intensified drone and missile attacks on Ukraine and its army is also advancing on the ground.

Three rounds of talks were held between Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul, but no way was found to stop the war. The demands of both sides are very different from each other. Putin's adviser to Russia, Yuri Ushakov, said that his three-hour talks with Vitkov were very beneficial.
