News Topical, Digital Desk : Several people have reportedly died due to contaminated water in Bhagirathpura, Indore. Meanwhile, a shocking revelation has emerged. Indore, considered one of the cleanest cities in the country, is currently grappling with contaminated water. Not only in Bhagirathpura, but water in 59 locations across the city was found to be undrinkable, according to a report by the Pollution Control Board.

The board wrote a letter to the Municipal Corporation and warned

The Board wrote three letters to the Municipal Corporation warning them about contaminated water. The Board directed that water be supplied to these areas only after treatment. The Pollution Control Board collected water samples from 60 locations across the city during 2016-17 and 2017-18. Their test report was released in 2019. 59 out of 60 samples failed the test.

The test revealed total coliform bacteria in the water, which is considered extremely dangerous to health. This bacteria can cause serious illnesses such as vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pain. Following the report, the board wrote three letters to the Municipal Corporation warning them about the contaminated water.

No concrete action was taken at the ground level

Despite the report, no concrete action was taken on the ground. The Central Ground Water Board, Bhopal, was later informed of the matter. The areas where the water was found unfit for drinking included Bhagirathpura, Khatipura, Ramnagar, Nahar Shahwali Road, Khajrana, Govind Colony, Shankar Bagh Colony, Pardeshipura, Sadar Bazaar, Rajwada, and Juni Indore, along with several other densely populated areas.

Coliform bacteria were found in most of the samples taken from locations across the city. The report stated that the Municipal Corporation was informed of this in a timely manner. Following this revelation, the Municipal Corporation has come under scrutiny.
