News Topical, Digital Desk : Agnivesh Agarwal, son of Vedanta Group founder and chairman Anil Agarwal, has passed away in the United States. He was undergoing treatment at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York following a skiing accident when he died of a sudden cardiac arrest.

When someone is recovering from a major accident, a sudden onset of such a situation can be frightening. Let's understand what cardiac arrest is and the causes of it during recovery.

What is cardiac arrest?

Cardiac arrest is a condition in which the heart suddenly stops beating or beats so fast that it stops pumping blood. A person suddenly collapses and becomes unconscious. Because the symptoms come on without warning, doctors also call it "sudden cardiac arrest."

When the heart stops pumping blood, oxygen is cut off to the body's organs, especially the brain. If treatment is not received within minutes, this condition can be fatal.

Why can cardiac arrest occur during recovery?

People often wonder how a heart can stop beating during hospital treatment. According to doctors, cardiac arrest in injury patients is not always caused by heart disease, but rather by other physical complications.

  • Hemorrhage – Excessive bleeding inside or outside the body causes blood loss, which can cause the heart to stop working.
  • Difficulty breathing – Due to chest injury or blockage in the airway, there is a lack of oxygen in the body .
  • Direct impact on the heart – If there is a deep injury to the chest in an accident, it can cause damage to the heart muscles or main blood vessels, which can disturb the balance of the heartbeat.

What is the real reason behind cardiac arrest?

Our heart beats are driven by electrical impulses. Cardiac arrest occurs when these impulses suddenly become abnormal and rapid. This is called an arrhythmia. The most dangerous form is ventricular fibrillation, in which the heart's ventricles begin to emit random signals and the heart stops beating.

What are its symptoms?

Although cardiac arrest occurs without warning, some patients may experience the following symptoms:

  • fainting or dizziness
  • chest pain and shortness of breath
  • rapid heartbeat
  • Feeling weak, nauseated, or vomiting.

What to do in case of cardiac arrest?

In the event of cardiac arrest, it is essential to reach a hospital immediately. Therefore, first call a medical helpline and immediately begin CPR.
