Gorakhpur: An expressway will be constructed from Jagdishpur-Koni to Jaitpur. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has started a survey for this. This expressway was needed because the Central Transport Ministry has recently decided to connect the Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway to the Gorakhpur Link Expressway to ease the journey from Siliguri to Delhi.
Earlier this expressway was to be started from Jagdishpur-Koni near Gorakhpur-Lucknow four lane, but now its construction will be started from Jaitpur itself to connect it with the link expressway.
The total length of the road was earlier 519.58 km, which can now increase by about 15 km due to connecting it to the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. NSAI has started preparations to prepare a new route of the Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway by connecting it to the Link Expressway.
An expressway will be built from Jagdishpur to Jaitpur parallel to the Gorakhpur-Lucknow four-lane. The Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway will pass through three districts of Gorakhpur division, Gorakhpur, Deoria and Kushinagar. According to the DPR prepared earlier, land of 115 villages of the three districts was to be acquired. Now with the increase in length, the number of villages in Gorakhpur will increase further.
NHAI Gorakhpur Project Director Lalit Pratap Pal said that Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway will be directly connected to Purvanchal Expressway through Link Expressway. Permission to prepare a new route for this was given in a recent meeting held in Delhi. Survey has been started for this. To connect with the Link Expressway, now an expressway will be constructed from Jagdishpur-Koni to Jaitpur. It is expected that it will be built parallel to Gorakhpur-Lucknow four lane. For now, the final decision will be taken after the survey.
