News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump has indicated that talks on the trade deal between India and the US are moving in the right direction and it could be sealed soon.

Trump said that the proposed agreement can give American companies better access to the Indian market as per the trade agreement between the US and Indonesia. In fact, India and the US are negotiating a trade deal whose main objective is to keep the tariff below 20 percent.

 

What did Donald Trump say about the trade deal?

Speaking to reporters, the US President said, "We have made an agreement with Indonesia. We have got full access to Indonesia." He said that under the trade agreement, Indonesia is giving America access to its country, which we have never got before. Trump further said that his administration is going to announce some other trade agreements and he also named India in this regard.

 

'There will be access to Indian markets'

Regarding India, he said, "This is probably the biggest part of the agreement, India is basically working in this direction. We will get access to India as well." The US has already written letters to several countries and shared details of reciprocal tariff rates. These new rates will come into effect from August 1.
