News Topical, Digital Desk : The havoc of speeding was witnessed in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, where a roadways bus and a truck collided horribly. The bus overturned in the accident near Karharakalan, a city police station area, resulting in the tragic death of driver Mohammad Azad. Twenty-two passengers were injured. Police have seized the truck and launched an investigation.

According to reports, a roadways bus (UP 78 LN 8233) traveling from Muskara to Mahoba collided with an oncoming truck (UP 90 T 5465) near Karharakalan village, within the city Kotwali area. The impact was so severe that the bus lost control and overturned on the roadside.

There were about 40 passengers on the bus

It was reported that around 40 passengers were on board the bus at the time of the accident. With the help of local residents and police, the injured were rescued by breaking the windows. A total of 22 people, including five children, were injured in the accident, including 71-year-old Mahendra Kumar, 7-month-old Aro, and 5-year-old Sejal. All the injured were immediately transported by ambulance to the district hospital. The bus driver, 47-year-old Mohammad Azad, a resident of Kalyan Nagar, died in the accident.

Eyewitness told what he saw

According to Gomti, an eyewitness and a female passenger, the truck was moving at a very high speed. Driver Mohammad Azad struggled to the last moment to save the passengers and tried to cut the bus, but in the process, he himself perished.

The injured were admitted to the hospital

Upon receiving information about the incident, Additional Superintendent of Police Vandana Singh and ARM Praveen Kumar arrived at the scene. The ASP stated that the truck involved in the accident has been seized by the police and rescue operations have been completed. Most of the passengers admitted to the hospital are now stable and out of danger. 

The roadways department has started an investigation into the matter.

ARM Praveen Kumar stated that the Roadways Department has also launched an internal investigation into the matter to determine the exact cause of the accident. Currently, the police have sent the driver's body for post-mortem examination and have initiated further legal proceedings.
