News Topical, Digital Desk : Amid rising tensions with Iran, the United States has decided to rapidly increase the production of advanced weapons. To this end, US President Donald Trump held a meeting with six major US defense contractors on Friday.
Trump shared a post on Truth Social, saying companies have agreed to quadruple production of high-end weapons to rapidly increase US stocks.
America will produce weapons four times faster
Donald Trump wrote in the post, 'We have just finished a very good meeting with the largest US defense manufacturing companies, where we discussed production and production schedules.
The US President said, 'These companies have agreed to quadruple the production of exquisite class weaponry, because we want to reach the highest level of quantity as soon as possible.'
Iran-Venezuela arms embargo
Trump further stated, "We have a virtually unlimited supply of medium and upper-medium grade weapons, which we are using in Iran and recently in Venezuela. Now we have increased our orders."
Meeting with President Trump included CEOs from BAE Systems, Boeing, Honeywell Aerospace, L3Harris Missile Solutions, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon.
The US's earlier deal included a multi-year agreement with Lockheed Martin to triple the production of PAC-3 missiles and quadruple the production of THAAD interceptors.
However, it is not clear whether the meeting resulted in new agreements beyond the production increase announced by the Pentagon earlier this year.
Lockheed Martin to quadruple production
Shortly after the White House meeting, a Lockheed Martin spokesman confirmed that the company had agreed to quadruple the production of the required weapons.
"Under President Trump's leadership, we began this work months ago with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Deputy Secretary Stephen Feinberg, and we remain committed to strengthening the unparalleled capabilities of the United States military," the spokesperson said.
