Rockstar is also one of those films. Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri were in the lead roles. Both of them showed their chemistry and deep passion for each other in a great way. But what if you come to know that Nargis was not cast opposite Ranbir earlier. Imtiaz had first cast a new actress for this role and had also done a workshop for 2-3 weeks.
The actress who was going to play the lead role opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar was Diana Penty. Diana, who was seen in Detective Sherdil , told in a recent interview that she was going to make her acting debut with this film, but for some reason Imtiaz dropped her from the film.
Diana was going to work in Rockstar
In a conversation with Hauterfly, Diana said, “I was in New York, modelling and I got a call from my agency. They told me that Imtiaz was looking for a new girl for his film Rockstar and I should meet him. Films were never on my radar and I never had any formal training in acting. I never believed that I could become an actress one day. I never believed that I would ever be able to do it. So I went back for the meeting. In the first meeting I thought - 'Wow, he is such a nice person.'”
That's why Imtiaz Ali replaced him
Diana Penty further said, "After 2-3 weeks he said, 'Look, I can see that you have progressed a lot and I have seen a lot of improvement, but I still don't think you are ready to play the role in Rockstar. Maybe it's too early for you.' He was supposed to shoot it in a month or two and he felt I was not ready at that time. I was relieved because I didn't have the confidence at that time. So I went back to New York and continued my modeling."
